PLAYER DEVELOPMENT IS #1

If you are looking for a girls basketball program in Austin, Texas that puts your daughter's skill development FIRST then the AGB Stars "Skills and Scrimmage" program and our AAU basketball team may be for you. Read on to find out what makes us different.

Our Methods

Why join the AGB Stars?

Austin Girls Basketball is a girls only basketball team that primarily focuses on our players skill development not winning tournaments. We teach all aspects of the game from ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, man to man defense, etc. We teach situational game recognition, player and team responsibilities and much more.

Our Skills Academy is what sets us apart from all of the other programs you have to choose from. We focus on the small details and aspects of the game that help your daughters develop a strong foundation of fundamental basketball skills. We spend the time to work on footwork, shooting form, change of direction dribbling, ball fakes and floor spacing. We will introduce them to and teach them how to play at a high level of intensity.

Our practices have two parts. We like to call it "Skills and Scrimmage". Every 2 hour practice will feature high intensity in our skills development and instruction. We follow "Skills" with our "Scrimmage" or realistic game play with coaches teaching in real-time. We focus on getting our players to use the skill sets we work on during the earlier practice session to reinforce the learning process.

Our program is for all skill levels from first year player development to multi-year player advancement. If you are tired of the same old aau programs that stress winning meaningless tournaments and short cut your daughter's development then come play with us.

What We Do

Skills & Scrimmage

This is the basis of our teaching. We workout for 2 hours focusing on intense and repetitive skills training drills. The majority of the skill building exercises are timed to keep the girls going at a high level of speed and intensity. We pack more learning into 2 hours than most teams get in a week.

Spring & Summer Camps

We offer 4 day camps designed to get your daughter ready to compete in Spring, Summer & School basketball. Our basketball camps are totally fundamentals based training. Your daughter will learn the correct way to dribble, pass, shoot, pivot, blockout, rebound, and defend.

Girls AAU Basketball Teams

We play Spring and Summer basketball tournaments to allow our players to sharpen the individual game skills developed in practice, play with a higher level of intensity, play as a team and to learn how to manage specific game situations.

2017 Summer Girls Basketball

Summer Basketball Schedule

Our Summer Session for AGB Stars Basketball will be starting in June and will go thru the middle of July.

The summer Sessions will be for girls in the 7th - 8th grades. Our practice sessions will be 2 hours each and we will practice 2 days a week.

The Summer Sessions are being planned now. Please email if you would like to be put on the list to receive an update when the schedule is out.

Our focus at AGB is on developing the skills that your daughter needs to play at a high level. That is why we our sessions or practices are for 2 hours. We believe that practice is where champions are made. It is very unlikely that your daughter will improve her skills by practicing once a week and playing 4-6 tournaments over the spring or summer. This will only reinforce bad habits and facilitate a lack of fundamental skill development.

Summer Session first of June to Middle of July

Your daughter may join a session in progress and pay only the pro-rated amount.
